Currently experiencing the best shift of my life

All I’m doing is standing around listening to a barbershop quartet, one of which happens to be one of my favorite people in the whole world.

This is obviously Disney apologizing for my week straight of Grad Nite.

I have a new found fear.

So, in the very last section of World of Disney, there’s that wall with all of the plush toys, right? Well, for a while now, part of that wall has been covered in Disney pillow pets.

That part of the wall is my new fear.

Rearranging that nonsense is like playing Jenga. Only if you lose…you probably die >__>

I love my job.

No, I don’t have a “glamourous” Disney job. I work retail. More often than not, it’s a really frustrating process, but it is something I enjoy so much.

I don’t go to school. School and I never got along very well. Most people who know me know this story very well, and I’m not going to bother you all with it unless you really want to know. Ever since I got out of high school, all I’ve wanted to do is go to work. My dream had always been Disneyland. Any department. I seriously would have(and still would) taken any job in any area if it meant I had the chance to work for Disney. And, I did. Disney is my life, and I’m not at all ashamed to admit it.

I work Stores. I don’t even work in the parks(yet). I work in Downtown Disney Stores. Does this bother me at all? No. No, it doesn’t. Because, as the title of this post states, I love my job. I get to talk to people from all over the world, from every walk of life. I have met some of the most interesting people in this line of work, it’s crazy.

I get to make little kids feel like rock stars, and I get to watch them leave my store with big smiles. I get to see parents get excited over their child’s “makeover” and how cool they look(even if it is really kind of goofy-looking). Some parents have even asked to get a picture with me and their child after I’ve finished doing their hair, and they’re all ready to leave.

I have one of the best jobs ever. I really do. I’m really lucky to be where I am. After about 3 years of trying to get a job here, I’ve finally got it. I may not be a princess, but I certainly feel like it. <3

I always feel so bad when I’m walking around World of Disney, and I see a guest who obviously needs help, so I go over to ask if they need something, and the first thing they say is “Do you speak Spanish?”

Then there’s that awkward moment where I have to tell them that I don’t, and they just walk away. And then I’m genuinely sad because I couldn’t do anything for them.

I wish I could speak all the languages. Then I could help ALL THE GUESTS. Seriously. It’d be super helpful to me and everyone else in the store.

Tonight World of Disney bestowed upon me the gift of Britney Spears

No, she didn’t come into the store.

See, when we close, we stop playing the Disney music that plays during regular hours. For the last…while, that we closed the store, the CD that played was a bunch of good ol’ 80’s tunes. But tonight…tonight was nothing but Britney Spears songs. Most of which I liked, so it wasn’t so bad.

Merry Christmas. It’s Britney, bitch. >_>

Dear snippy Australian woman with the Louis Vuitton fake nails,

Don’t come to my register with $700 worth of stuff, and then yell at me when it takes like…a minute longer for me to have to call the stockroom to check the price for ONE item.

I hope all of the mugs I wrapped for you break in transit.

Love, Lizzi.

Oh, so the other day…

I was closing at World of Disney. This lady came to my register with $340 worth of stuff, and then handed me a coupon. I took a look at it, and it was only valid between park opening - 12:30pm. It was 7:30pm. I told her what the coupon said, and then she says to me “12:30pm is tonight, isn’t it?”

Both I and her husband corrected her >_>

But the best part was, she asked if I could hold the items for her until the next day. Unfortunately, we can’t do that, because things like that are hard to keep track of, especially in a store as large as WoD. When I told her this, she was quite upset. Of course, there was nothing I could do about it but apologize for the inconvenience. Her response to that was to simply just walk away. Just….walk away…leaving me with $340 worth of merchandise on the counter to put away. It was awesome(noitwasn’t).

Look at that beautiful Disney sweater.

So, fun story today. I go to clock in, expecting to be at Studio. In my Studio costume. My RC lead looks at me and is like “….Did Scheduling call you…?” and then I was concerned, because I had lost my phone and I was already feeling crappy and I was totally expecting to get yelled at.
Turns out, I got moved over to Pin Traders. It’s that lovely stand in Downtown Disney next to the Monorail Station where all of the pins are. So after I clocked in, I had to go down to Costuming to get the costume for that, which is what is pictured above. It was fun being there and talking to guests there about pins and stuff…but it was freaking cold. No me gusta.
Oh and, lucky me, I didn’t get yelled at. As it turns out, Scheduling was being really poopy in general today, so my lead went to go yell at them because I wasn’t the only person they had messed up >.>

That wonderful moment when one of your favorite entertainment CMs comes into your store because he saw you from all the way outside and thought he’d come say hi.

And then, a few minutes after he leaves, a couple of your friends walk in and make your night much better than it already was <3

That awkward moment when one of your favorite parade performers comes into your store, and then happens to be the next guest you ring up. And then you really want to say something to him about it, but you’re just far too awkward, AND THEN one of his friends sees him in the store and decides to surprise him.
